About

General:

Born in Sweden, came to the Bay Area in 2001. Located in Larkspur, CA with my husband and daughter, and enjoy living in this beautiful area, where minds are open and hearts are generous. It feels even better to be living in the US, now that we have new hope in the White House!

Interested in working for an engaging non-profit in the area of environment, peace and peacebuilding, human rights, international relations or similar. Have several year's experience working for local non-profits (see qualifications below).

When I get homesick, I go to IKEA and buy Swedish fishpaste or watch Swedish TV online (www.svt.se) Other personal interests are yoga, good food, good company and interesting conversation.

Job history and qualifications:

Previous work experience includes several years of working with diverse groups, as guidance counselor and youth leader in different areas of Gothenburg, Sweden, and for the Larkin Street Youth Center (Job Search Lab) where I assisted young people in need of support.

The last few years, I have worked for a local peacebuilding organization, as Operations Manager and later as project coordinator. This last year, I coordinated the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI), and worked with a team of interns, web consultants and staff members to upgrade and re-launch the official website for International Day of Peace (Peace Day). While working on the website, I also implemented a strategy to promote CPI and Peace Day through online networking portals, such as WiserEarth and Facebook. At the same time, I kept in touch with CPI participants through email newsletters and ongoing communication.

In recent years, I have also worked with a local environmental group, doing research for their Preservation and Environmental Health divisions. Among other things, I had the pleasure of participating in the campaign to ban certain chemicals in children’s products, which resulted in local and state legislation. My research and written material was used to reach legislators as well as the general public.

These and previous experiences show that I’m very capable of managing projects, achieving goals and keeping deadlines. I work independently, and enjoy taking initiatives. Doing research and writing official documents are aspects of non-profit work that really inspire me. I have worked intensely with a wide range of people and have insight and training in inter-cultural communication. I’m a fast learner and have no problems getting acquainted with new technology and/or policy.
