About

erika rand is a multimedia director, filmmaker, photographer and art director interested in the design of joyful human experiences and the support of social profit business. As a film curator for Pangea Day, she collaborated on a project designed to help grow cross-cultural compassion. The intention was to use film as a medium to perceive the world through another person's eyes. The first annual Pangea Day, May 10, 2008, was a 4-hour program of short films, music, and visionary speakers, broadcast live from 6 cities in 7 languages, to millions of people around the world.
She is currently directing a short film on Climate Change Solutions with Free Range Studios and the Alliance for Climate Education, for presentation in US high schools. Collaborators include animator Haik Hoisington, composer Jesse Murphy of the Brazilian Girls, and composer Philip Glass. She also served as art director on another film for the same project, which details the Current Climate Crisis. Before the 2008 election, she collaborated on the film short "Why Would Anyone Want to Stop You From Voting?" with director Ian Inaba, animator Haik Hoisington, and composer DJ Spooky.
In support of social profit business, Erika rebranded and designed the website for the alternative fuels company, Biochar Energy, which premiered its inventions at the 2008 UN conference on Climate Change. She also rebranded the 2008 Harmony Festival, which brought record numbers to Northern California’s premiere music, camping & sustainable lifestyle festival. She consults and designs toward the brand evolution of Guayakí Yerba Mate.
