Liz has deactivated her account here on WiserEarth, but the Alchemical Nursery Project is still up and running strong at www.alchemicalnursery.org.  I am the current Board President and we have a growing Board of excited and energetic individuals.  Come see us soon :>)  If you're in the area check out our free screening of the film "Homegrown" on October 3rd.  More details at www.alchemicalnursery.org.

___________________________________________________________________

Come out for a screening of the documentary film "Homegrown" (50 minutes) - Saturday October 3rd, screenings at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, at the Westcott Community Center, corner of Euclid Ave. and Westcott St., Syracuse, NY.

HOMEGROWN follows the Dervaes family who run a small Organic farm in the heart of urban Pasadena, California. While "living off the grid", they harvest over 6,000 pounds of produce on less than a quarter of an acre, make their own bio diesel, power their computers with the help of solar panels, and maintain a website that gets 4,000 hits a day. The film is an intimate human portrait of what it's like to live like "Little House on the Prairie" in the 21st Century.

View the trailer at: http://www.homegrown-film.com/trailer.html

We will be holding a short open meeting panel discussion at the conclusion of each screening where we will discuss reactions to the film, Permaculture/homesteading in Syracuse and surrounding areas, and activities from affinity groups in the area. Hope to see you there!

The Screening will be a part of the Westcott Bulb Giveaway/Garden Extravaganza. All from CNY are welcome to see the film and support festival filled with crafters, gardeners, landscapers, children's pumpkin sale by Syracuse Real Food Coop, food, entertainment, presentations and more. and learn how you can start your own neighborhood bulb project. Westcott neighbors only, can pick up 18 free perennial daffodil bulbs. 5,400 will be set aside for the first 300 people to show up from the Westcott neighborhood.

I was thinking it might be better to post info here on WiserEarth and link to it on the AN website- more sharing can go on that way....anyway I'm living in Seattle now trying to catalyze a more active movement and somehow get a job or some form of sustenance doing this.....if it doesnt work out I think I'll become a political refugee and flee to south/ central america. that or south-central LA......

ps congrats on being a "Featured Person"!!

Hi,

Just saw your message yesterday. haven't been online in a while. Well, I visited the Alchemical Nursery website yesterday. I'd say you got a great project going. Guess with time , we'll get to learn about one another and the work we are doing. I've got my hands full at the moment. I am currently undertaking a Masters Degree Programme In Urban and Regional Planning. Guess it's part of the reason why I'm not on-line as often as I used to be.

Guess i'd just stop here and thank you for your invitation.

Cheers!

Yes, love your energy, enthusiasm, and fee flow.

Tell me more about your organization please.

BOOST operates in New Jersey and has a year-long series of public awareness forums and community capacity building workshops we are launching on Saturday, June 7 in Trenton.

Perhaps you can come and be a part of the launch which will feature Mitchell Joachim of Terreform for a presentation on whole ecological design for urban environments, Anastasia Harrison of WESKetch Architecture on improving indoor air quality for home and family health, a screening of Sundance Channel's Big Ideas for a Small Planet, the Build episode and another presentation by a representative of Delaware River Keepers.  Your Alchemical Nursery Project sounds very interesting and I am sure your presentation will be well-recieved.

Contact me at (609) 298-7696 - home - and voice mail (206) 202-2883 if I'm not in.

Let's set this up soon so I can put an announcement out to BOOST's email list and post on our blog at www.gss-set.blogspot.com.

Best,

Tim Razzaq for BOOST and Partners
