CPI June Update
Celebration Earth
The people of the beautiful island of Okinawa, Japan have faced a tragic history of war and conflict. However, in recent history its people have been praying and organizing for world peace. Okinawa is now the home of "Celebration Earth", a six-month festival for peace which encourages the 'Peace Day, Every Day' spirit envisioned by the Culture of Peace Initiative. The festival's events from April 1 to September 21 are helping to establish a model of international peace and inner peace. The Culture of Peace Initiative is collaborating by helping to connect their message and events to the world! We encourage you to take a look at their inspiring events so far on the Celebration Earth network.
Paul Coleman (pictured with wife Konomi) is co-founder of Celebration Earth and Ambassador to CPI. He's known on the web and on WiserEarth as Earthwalker.

| We have many peace groups on WE. This is the biggest & best developed. Maybe invite other groups to join this one? Or list them under related groups? Janine 2:39 pm

| That's a great point Janine, I should work on doing that :) Michael Kwan 4:08 pm

| Hi James, a great person to talk to would be David Wick (user/dwick). I'm just being introduced to the idea...thanks for sharing the resource, will look into it further! Michael Kwan 2:27 am

| For me all the "issues" in this current society have one root cause; capitlaism. Which is a system that is so very obviously troubled. The economic changes that are possible just now will lead to eradication, or can lead to the eradication of all of the ills. Peace will break out. Just understand what it means to be human. Joined together. We already are, most of us just don't realise it yet. Peace. James D 11:10 am

| Hi James, I agree it's hard to be "at peace" when one faces vast social and economic challenges or poverty. I agree that what we need are more collaborative models of work vs the strict capitalism we see today! But I think people as a whole are still isolated and divided by ethnic and cultural differences...and that we can't have a just economic system w/o overcoming those social issues. Btw, realityinfo.org is an interesting site! Michael Kwan 3:56 am

| I was at Cities of Peace last night too. CPI is a project of Pathways to Peace, and our E.D, Avon Mattison is an Advisor of Summer of Peace. I'm definitely looking forward to connecting more with the Cities of Peace Initiative... last night's speakers were so powerful! I'm going to spend some time googling them haha.. Michael Kwan 7:14 pm
