First, make sure that the organization's mission and activities contribute to the 'creation of a just and sustainable world'. If you are not sure consult the WiserEarth Content Standards for guidance.
Then, follow these steps:
|
|
Add an organization listing by clicking the "Add an Organization" link under the "Contribute" menu in the top left navigation or the "Create" link in a group's organizations module.
Check database for existing entries by typing in the organization name and clicking the "Add / Check Database" button. If the organization is in the directory already, you may want to update the information there. If not, you can proceed to create a new listing. |
Below is an example a well-edited and well-networked organization profile. What you do after learning the next steps of this tutorial will help you accomplish this. (Click on the image to see the real, interactive page)

An organization page consists of:

2. Organization Info Displays the contact address, email and phone, certifications, language spoken, staff number and other details.
3. Network Displays organizations, people, resources, solutions, jobs, events and wikipages in WiserEarth related to an organization.
4. Areas of Focus Displays relevant WiserEarth Areas of Focus.
5. About Section Displays a summary of the organization's work including mission statement, projects, etc.
6. Files & Photos You can upload photos, publications or other useful files here.
7. Comments Display comments from the WiserEarth community about the organization |
- It would be best if you open the organization's website while adding the organization into WiserEarth. You will need detailed info and a summary of the organization. The "About Us" and "Contact Us" pages are very helpful.
- You may also want to take the organization's logo to insert into the About section of the organization page (see Step 3)
- Have further questions? Visit our Organizations FAQ, the Help Desk, or the Glossary for definitions of terms used on WiserEarth.
